Jim Govatos - Senior Pastor |

After a powerful encounter with Jesus Christ in college, Jim went on to study at Yale Divinity School where he received his call into the ordained ministry. Jim served parishes in Australia and Michigan before coming to Indian River City UMC in 1998 as Minister of Discipleship. Jim was appointed Sr. Pastor of IRC in 2001. He has a passion for reaching out to people with the good news that their lives can be transformed through Christ's amazing love. Mark Jaeger - Worship Leader |
I’ve been blessed to be a part of the Aloma family since 1990. Amazingly enough, they still seem okay with having me around. I share life with my amazing wonderful wife, Ruthanne. Two daughters, Emily and Andrea, and Tucker (our Dog). I get to do what I love, Worship! Worship, in its many forms, is our connection to the source of all we need and all we are looking for. In all we do here at Aloma UMC, we strive to help others find ways to connect to that source. Currently I’m also attending classes at Asbury Seminary as I seek a Masters in Counseling.

Barbara Twachtman - Preschool Director |
I am married and, although I don’t look it, have 3 grown children, Elizabeth (24) and Jeremiah (21) and Doug (21). I have been married to Eric for 26 years! My full-time job is Director of the Early Childhood Learning Center here at the church. I was employed at the Preschool in September of 1995 as the Music and Movement teacher and became Director in June of 2000. I have a staff of 14 that I am responsible for and we have around 80 families in the Preschool which translates roughly into about 108 enrolled students! I have a part time job as pianist for the church which I truly enjoy. I sing on the Praise Team and am very involved in the planning of worship which is a passion of mine. I have also written a few songs and enjoy singing very much.
